I have two vague character concepts in my head, but depending on when I die wouldn’t be able to really roll straight in to either of them, particularly as the currently planned .3 involves a change in nation. Though I could just kit up and go for it. Plan is currently, backup kit and lurk around the group tent. My first character died 2 years ago now, and I did roll straight back into play as a cambion, but i had no strong connection with the .1, she was my first character, and I had a small baby with me. I think next time it will bother me more, as Hadand is involved in things and has ideas and aspirations. I’m hoping it doesn’t happen soon, but I’m also excited for future incarnations.
Go to the group tents, OC if needed and drop off/collect kit.
Yes you will be a bit sad and want to share. But you would then take away the chance of your group RPing it by being around. Its a delicate thing but you shouldn’t put yourself out because of it.
I’m fine RPing grief if the person is there as a new character. If they are there and want to talk to me OC that’s more difficult as I will drop out of character but a new IC ‘stranger’ turning up and kindly asking what’s wrong is great. Wanna hear about all the ways your old character impacted me? Ask me!
Hmm, I sure hope my character doesn’t die on the first event. They might do, if they’re a war journalist. Do barbarians have mercy on support roles? Probably not, oh well. I’ll just have to leg it if needs be, or hide behind my shield, or do something fancy with a rod.
Maybe I’ll try healing people in the battle aftermath instead rather than in the actual battle. That way I can interview survivors and the recently deceased without worrying about being shot.
Provided you stick with the main force, you’re fairly unlikely to get shot anyway, as there should be a mess of higher priority targets between you and the enemy.
In addition, getting shot, especially if you’re in the rear ranks, is drastically unlikely to be fatal (plus makes a great story for the paper.) Just scream loudly for a medic, and you’ll be fine. I have been shot more times than I can count over the years, and haven’t managed to die yet.
Oh ok, thanks. I wonder how an orc barbarian would react if I woke them up with a spell after recently dying and asking them some questions for their local news team? “How did the battle go?” “What are your opinions on current socio-political affairs?”
…If I were the orc in question, I’d love it. Although I might spend the whole time insulting your ancestry and the dishonour of your pathetic human clan.
Ok XD, I’d be sure to write it down. Do orcs have names and backstories when people do monstering?
Not usually, but some of the more organised groups get a briefing and are told which clan they belong to.
Ok, thanks. You never know, maybe the barbarian in question will be so tired by all the fighting that they’ll actually become quiet a nice chum after death.
I mean, I tend to make up a few details for my own amusement. Such as ‘Thane Smashheart’, and the various Posh Jotun we did. (“What ho! We’re here for the Waaaar, don’cha know!”)
XD sounds fun. Maybe I should just become a cultural correspondent after all and learn some rituals; much less likely to get stabbed with a halberd or shouted at by a recently deceased ork.
Try it. Its HIGHLY unlikely that you will die if you take the battlefield (Skirmishes, You take your life in your own hands). Just keep your head together and if needed, RUN AWAY!!!
Thanks for the advice all. Maybe I’ll stick to the battles in that case XD
