Courtesy of Tim Baker (veteran player of League generals and general good egg), there will be some second-hand weapons and associated bits at the next Empire event (E1 2024), on the Friday.
Full details are on another post (Trading category), this is an alert for you new players looking at your budget and the price of new weapons (they are expensive…).
Look for the Camorra Barossa camp in the League (red banner with a fox on it).
Items will be on sale at a minimum between 11am and 2.30pm Friday (when organiser needs to go to the New Player Skirmish) and for a short window between the NPS and time in. This may be extended, as some volunteers have already said they will be happy to stand in for some extra times.
Prices so far are looking pretty cheap, and there may well be some costume available as well.
The weapons should have been weapons checked by the time they’re on sale, as well. Which will be one more thing to help you

Is there a chance this will be run at E2 as well?
I’ll be joining for the 1st time on E2 and I’d love to grab me some kit
I suspect chances are low but if it does happen again, it’s most likely going to be announced pretty close to the event.
Here are a few other possibilities for kit on the cheaper end of the scale for starting out:
For weapons and/or armour, it can be worth asking around within your character’s chosen nation in case anybody can loan something to you for the weekend (or maybe will sell). It seems to be something done mostly within nations because everyone in a nation goes to a big battle (and also monster) together, so the logistics are easier.
If you use facebook, there’s a group called “Empire LRP kit: Sales, swaps and wanted” where you might find a deal, though 2nd hand weapons are a rarity from what I’ve seen.
One of the traders at Empire, Das Shoppe trades in pre-owned costume or at least used to (I’ve not had time to pop in there the last year).
Navarr has a kit exchange at E2 each year as part of IC festivities but I’ve only seen clothing to date. Plus no help if you’re in another nation.

I am actually Navarr so many of the tips do apply to me. Thanks a lot for all of the advice!
I’ve got most of my kit covered and I’m yet to try combat, so we’ll see whether I need a weapon at all or not. So far I’ve got everything I need, but as need arises I’ll definitely give it a good look at the event itself.
