If you plan on claiming the hip bone to be from a horse (and especially if you use the far more recognisable skull), I would suggest working out how/why you have those.
The horse, after all, has been extinct for over 300 years, and before that was only really found in Highguard. They are not native to this continent.
So finding it on an ancient battlefield may be plausible?
Thank you. Any advise on that? So far I have the hip of a horse, the skull of a cat, a pair of antlers and a full set of sheep bones. I’ll be using the horse’s hip for certain, and with all this info on the idea of horse relics I’ll be using that for sure. So is there any info you know about the significance of horses?
Basically, horses were/are a Big Deal, embodying Courage and Loyalty, and are now a symbol of the Empire. Some of the oldest chapters in Highguard claim descent from cavalry regiments, and any chapter with the actual remains of a horse is likely to guard these relics jealously.
However, it is not impossible that a dead horse or two was not retrieved from a battle during the expansionist phase following Highguard’s arrival on the Bay of Catazar.
The idea of a wild navvarr is there. The ones who stride the farthest and stead in the most isolated places, who regularly fight the Jotun or Druj will use fear as a weapon, some feral battle armor, Leather with lots of bits and pieces, such as orc noses, claws, ect is very on brief.
Totally - they died out generations ago! We have few documents or images of them and no science! Maybe those were baby horses.
Think state of knowledge of extinct animals pre-Victorians. Yup, they definitely existed, but does this head go of that neck? Were they scaled or furred? How intelligent were they? Did they have four or six legs etc?
(It’s a good conversation starter if nothing else. I’m sure you will find many people on the field willing to discuss horse myths)
