I’ve got something similar that is just made of bits I picked up from traders at the events.
Pouches of various sizes are easy to get hold of, along with scabbards and bottle holders. Then it’s just a case of threading them in an order that’s comfortable and lets you sit down.
This aproach won’t all match perfectly though so it depends on how uniform you wnat it.
I use a hero belt with two straps on it and loop things on it in a particular order every time.
Typically have A5 pouch, larp knife, ic coin pouch, oc coin pouch and tankard and loop. Sometimes my mace clip too. It all just depends on what you want and your budget.
Jason Boyle of Dad’s Armoury (currently playing a highborn) has made belts like that, with lots of straps and rings to attach further pouches, weapons potion bottles and the like.
Most of my larp belts and belt hardware are from Darkblade - cheap and well made. Instead of trying to work out exactly what I want the belt to do in advance and ordering something super-specific, I just have a bunch of pouches, weapon loops, and so on that I’ve picked up over time. Then I can put together something suited to the specific thing I want this time without much trouble.
I will 2nd Darkblade as good quality leatherwork, he set me up with my first bit of kit when I started and I have only added to it. His baldric makes the basis for all my belting and my newest addition is a magnetic back scabbard, I’m a very happy customer.
Likewise here I’ve got a belt and a bunch of different sized pouches from Darkblade, he does a whole bunch of different stuff so you can mix and match depending on your needs. You can also try them on and experiment with them in his stall on the field to see how you they fit on you.
You buy from Darkblade if you want functional. While some might argue that kit should be covered in details, something new to notice each time you see them, others prefer a few key details that stand out at every interaction. The more details on a pouch, the more eyes are drawn away from the important necklace or the design on your surcoat.
So it’s all about what you are aiming for in your costume
Yep, Darkblade’s kit isn’t particularly fancy. I don’t use it for fancy, though. I use it because it’s cheap, and because I can decide halfway through an event I need a new pouch to carry some magic item and get one on the spot which will visually fit with the rest of my gear. Other options are great, but that sort of ready functional availability if what keeps me with Darkblade.
One downside of having a strong style on all your pouches/hardware is that it can take much longer to get a new piece which ‘fits’. The upside, obviously, is that it looks amazing.
