I’m going to be attending E1 as my first ever LARP and I’ve found myself needing to travel to the site on the Thursday via public transport (I do not drive and whilst I have a lift home on the Sunday, I don’t have anybody available to give lifts earlier in the week, and I will be attending alone so carpool isn’t an option). I was wondering if anybody had advice on the best way to get there using public transport?
I’ll be coming from Cambridgeshire. I’ve taken a look at the wiki and seen there’s been a coach service from Banbury train station in past years - I assume that will be running again in 2024, and taking the train to Banbury and then taking the coach service may be my best option?
Thanks to everybody in advance, I’m super anxious about all of this and just want to confirm the best route well ahead of time.
That’s a question best sent to PD by email, since there’s been no announcement on it as yet that I’ve seen.
I’d hazard a guess admin@profounddecisions.co.uk would be the better address to use. Last year was a bit of an experiment with hiring a company to run the shuttle, so it’s not really a question the player base is likely to be able to answer, sorry.
I can pretty confidently say that if the shuttle is running, it’ll be cheaper than getting a taxi or bus/taxi combo from Banbury
If you use facebook there is also a group, Empire LRP: Travel Arrangements on which you might be able to find a lift down or someone willing to pick you up from Banbury if the shuttle service is full/doesn’t happen.
I’ll check out the Facebook group and send off an email to PD. Worst case scenario I’ll have to do the bus-taxi combo which I guess isn’t the worst thing in the whole wide world.
Train or lift or something to Banbury, coach to site is by far the easiest option. I’ve done it from Cambridge before and it’s a bit of a pain but certainly works.
