I am looking at the whispering the shadow courtiers ritual and don’t quite understand its, does it allow the casters to ask the shadow courtiers something? or do they just recieve a message which could be whatever the courtiers decide to tell them?
The ritual doesn’t send a message to the Whisper Gallery, so I don’t think you can use it to get answers to specific questions.
The communication that comes from the Whisper Gallery is not publically known, but the OOC notes make it clear you get a scroll, which has the ability to send a message back to the Eternals. Quite what that might entail is deliberately obscured on the wiki, so you might have to ask people in character - or try it yourself!
Just remember that the ritual is currently illegal to perform. Note: illegal and impossible are very, very different.

I think there is a risk (replying to your earlier idea) that it would be cool but not that popular. Still, as others have said, you can combine your aims and skills. Gameplay often is what you make of it, which can be challenging even for seasoned players!

Exactly, I think 90% of my interactions would be “wow, that is a REALLY cool character concept. I mean I PERSONALY won’t pay you or get into that plot but it sure sounds cool!” 
For now, Ill go with the Seneschal mage idea as I know Ill get lots of gameplay out of that. I will apply my hard skills as a poet to test the water of Ballgowning, and maybe re-roll when I have a better idea of if it will work.
