Chess Boxing but Unconquered?

So, as the name suggests, this would be a spiff on the idea of chess boxing, but done with LARP Weapons!

Obviously, the 3 minute fights would be a slog, so maybe they fight until one person is dropped to 0, or 30 seconds pass. Maybe there needs to be a number of hits given at the start of the game, like 4 or 5? Also, Speed Chess rules may also need to apply here to keep the game moving.

I’ve had two ideas for the rules for this:

  1. The players would need to win at chess or drop their opponent down to win overall or
  2. The victor of the fight gets to choose one of their taken pieces to place back onto the field.

So, how would we make this work my fellow Highborn? Its certainly testing your virtues, maybe it can become our national sport or something?

I have never heard of chess boxing.

The basic rules are as follows:

A fight goes up to 11 alternating rounds. It starts with four minutes of chess, followed by a three minute round of boxing. The fight ends by either a knockout, checkmate, exceeding the time limit, or by the judge’s decision.

So a 3 minute fight would just not be fun to do or watch, so cutting down on the time would be needed. Also, id assume that its a lot easier to hit 0 at LARP than getting knocked out in the ring

But, this is hella Highborn, a game of skill combined with Fights which can help decide if one team can get a piece back into play!

Chess Boxing is also like speed chess, as the players have to move a piece within 10 seconds.

I considered something similar to this for the Scholars of the Sword, even going as far as to investigate buying an IC-looking chess clock - but they’re rather expensive. Finding a combination of rules that will be fun for both participants and spectators would be key
