"Cultural events" (plays, tourneys etc.)

Hi all. At a typical Empire weekend, are there a lot of “cultural events” by which I mean stuff like League plays, Dawnish tournaments, Marcher foot-the-ball games. (I do know about the Senate Motions dances.)

Would things like this normally be open to all nations to attend? And would there be a schedule of events on line, or would people have to find out about them in play? I think sometimes events are advertised by IC flyers?

Thank you!

In general I think that “cultural events” are open to all as spectators but not always as participants.

Here are a couple of links that might help:

Many of the smaller things, like plays and debates, are all player organised, so tend to be advertised closer to the date of an event and advertised across social media stuff

There’s the big festivals, as linked above. Again, largely player organised and run, with PD just “providing the date.”

I’d also recommend paying attention to the Winds of Fortune, as sometimes PD does have IC events that they drive forward (like the cursed League play a while back, the big coronation fayre that Dawn had at E1 2024)

I would caution that some (like the active bits of the Night of Worth) can be part closed /locked to a Nation because of what happens. (Hard for the egregore of the Imperial Orcs to open the Gate to let a Marcher through because of game mechanic reasons)

Thank you all for the information. I suspected Profound Deccissions wouldn’t be actively scheduling purely player-driven stuff but it’s good to know a lot is on social media and not just by in-person IC word of mouth at the events. Being a spectator and not a participant sounds great to me to be honest!

OK now I’m intrigued by the cursed League play :grimacing:

Oh, being a participant (even unintentionally) is often some best fun you can have

The League’s had some fun with a recent acquisition that’s been leading to some fun events…to the point there was a lot of “please, stop poking the rock. Yes, we know it needs a gift shop and catchy jingle but it is Very Cursed” (tone light and amused) statement of principle (IC) that got put through
