E1 2026 - And now a word from the Academy

Good afternoon everyone,

We hope you’re all ready for a new year of Academic Adventurers, and on A whole new site too. First, a small amount of housekeeping: The new academy space is massive, giving us a lot more space for outside play. On the positives, it means we should be able to do a bit of archery again some time this year! On the negatives, we’re a little less roped off than we have been in the past. While no rules are changing, we’d just like to reiterate that we are not responsible for students attending the academy, so please keep an eye on your younger ones to make sure they don’t wander out of one of the more open sides.

With that out of the way, we’d like to highlight our off Anvil activities to make sure everyone who wants to attend is prepared and able to. Please do your best to ensure you’ve swung by to the Academy before arriving to attend these, so we can book everyone on (this ensures gate numbers will work and allow us to adjust crew numbers if needed).

Saturday, 9.45-12: Our youngest students (up to age 7) have been tasked by a herald of Barien to see if they can escape “Hurdy’s Room Of Escapes, Puzzles and Mysteries” a pocket chamber of Summer filled. Groups of up to 8 at a time will head over in 20 minute intervals across the morning.

Saturday, 12.45-14.00: We have space for around a dozen cadets to take to the field to monster a skirmish for their classmates. Volunteers must have completed their test of battle to attend, and attending guarantees a space on the cadet quest. Prompt arrival at the Academy for 12.45 is essential to travel over to the crew side and get into kit. Attendees must be signed up with the Combat team in advance.

Saturday 13.15-14.00: Our pupils ages 8-12 have been asked to help drive back a pack of Wulfs who are threatening a Vale. Rumours fly of a spectre too who haunts the area, so best be bravehearted if you wish to travel. Additional information will be available from a citizen of Varushka, who will visit to explain more to the academy at 12.00 on Saturday.

Saturday 15.30-16.15: The Cadet Quest will be taking place, and will be hunting driving back coral husks from a coastline in Stark, Sermersuaq. Reports detail them dragging locals to the sea, be they dead or alive, and it is essential they are forced from the area, before more damage is done.

In Anvil, we’ll have our usual activities going on at the Academy too, Arts and Crafts, Student Council, Potion Making, Religious Studies,

I’d also like to highlight the available times for Citizenship Tests and Tests of Arms. These can each only be taken once per event, and should be taken in this order. There is no specific age limit for either, but my recommendation is that you are most likely to be successful in both at age 11 and 14, respectively. You should have attended at least one of each appropriate lesson before taking each type of test.

Citizenship Tests: Friday 19.00-20.00, Saturday 14.00-15.00

Tests of Battle: Friday 19.00-20.00, Saturday 16.30-17.00

For full details, we encourage folks to swing by to parents evening on Friday for a full rundown of what’s going on.

A quick reminder as well that any young role player at the Academy must be overseen by a nominated guardian or parent at all times,t and at no point can the crew of the Academy be considered to be in loco parentis of a child. The specifics of what level of supervision is required for your young player can be found here. All guardians must be aware of this page and the links at the bottom of it. https://www.profounddecisions.co.uk/empire-wiki/Children. The bottom line is that under 7s are accompanied 24/7, 7-10s must always have a parent responsible for them and 11-15s need regular parental check-ins.

Thanks all,

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend,

The Academy Team
