Good Afternoon,
This is just a short post interrupting the Winds to let you know about a couple of things that are happening at E2.
We’re excited to have Tom Faber joining us to play the event for the first time this weekend. Tom is a freelance journalist who is writing a piece on Empire for the Financial Times magazine for their gaming edition. He is going to be playing the event and writing based on his experience but would love to chat with anyone who is interested in talking to him. In Toms words:
‘Hello – I’m writing a long-read feature for the Financial Times magazine about Empire’s first year in its new permanent home, and will be attending the Spring event to try out the hobby for myself. I’d love to meet people from the community to hear about their history with role-play, their passion, and why it means so much to them. As a gamer and fantasy lover myself, my article will be approaching the topic with a warm and open heart, curious and empathetic to the people who devote so much time and passion to their hobby. I’ll be on-site from Thursday – Saturday so let me know if anyone would like to talk and share their stories!’
If you are interested in talking to Tom please email in to Clare@profounddecisions.co.uk and I will pass your message and contact details to Tom.
We also have a visit from our local MP, Charlotte Cane (Lib Dem) on Saturday morning. This is part of a plan for the new site to engage with the local community so they can understand what we do and try to build support for the new Live Roleplaying Centre. They will be onsite for around 45 minutes. We’re not currently planning to take them into the the IC fields, but if we do then we’ll make sure there is a member of the team in a red and black with them at all times.
Lastly we want to remind everyone that all participants must wear appropriate costume while in the in-character area during time-in. If you are coming back from battle it is appropriate to go straight to your tent to change in your monster layers. We want to keep our beautiful Anvil as immersive as possible and we all play a part in making that happen. If you do spot someone who is not in kit please speak to an egregore or a ref and they can get someone to speak to them and find out if there is a problem and help them get sorted. If you’re concerned for any reason, please let anyone with a radio know and they can call Security to come and speak to them. Radio holders can be found in the Tavern, The Hub, The Academy, The Ref tent, God and on the egregores and refs.
