… because now I know I’m coming back to Empire I have a bunch of niggling things that I want to sort out for next event.
A cover for an inflatable sleeping mat, so I can easily have a lie down in the IC area when my fatigue is threatening.
Some special “for display” mana crystal physreps, which I’ve decided to do suspended in little jars with transparent thread to make them that little bit unnecessarily extra.
Create a stand/support for my shruti box pedal, because it fell over repeatedly when I used it on the uneven ground at the event.
Start making another shawl to replace the one I sold last event.
I need to completely re-vamp kit for some assorted IC reasons…which means (come pay cheques), I’m eyeing up a stack of linens
Also need to shake my partner for what he wants for his kit re-vamp because he found that the nice sleeveless long which is somewhat iconic to the group kit layout is a lil too heavy if the event is murder high temps and humidity
I’m feeling pleased with myself as I’ve already got round to adding elastic loops to some chair covers that kept slipping and widened the neckline on eldest child’s surcoat.
Next on the list are a back-up lightweight gown for me, some sort of lighter sunhood/hat for my husband, adjusting the brim of my warm woollen hood, and making a tie-on pocket for smaller child so she stops sticking all her treasures in mine!
Oh I could, and I probably will get a blanket as well to cosy up under. But being able to fully encase the inflatable mattress also protects it that little bit.
Bonus crafting: make some base kit for a friend who has managed to get the time to come to Empire for the first time. Break out the old duvet covers, it’s t-tunic time!
New small person costume - because they keep inconveniently growing
Wedding favours possibly
EMU monster kit
New surcoat badge cos I spilled tea down the white horse…
With a week to go, how optimistic are we all feeling on the crafting we promised ourselves we’d complete?
I’ve made two sash belts for kit revamp and the linen/sheet cotton sleeveless long for the partner still needs final assembly done on it.
Plus side, the embroidery work on the sash belts has given me better idea on design thematics
Downside, I’m unlikely going to have time to do embroidery on the partner’s sleeveless long. Which is a bit of a shame, as his standard kit lacks little personalised embroidery bits
I’m well pleased, honestly. I got all the pieces done that I needed to, plus a few bonus extras. Given I have to pack this weekend for travel reasons, I’m feeling remarkably kit-prepared.
I haven’t done any music practice or songwriting but that’s a separate thread.
