I sold scores of Gingerbread Druj, and made a good few rings there (which I later cashed up at GOD).

I competed in the Battlemage Tourney (Tourney of the Icy Crag) and watched my children fight in the Royal Tourney of Lady Honkington III (the goose did not end up as Queen…).

I spent a long evening wincing with sore knees after much jumping around in those.

I sang for folks around campfires and in crowded tents, and was tipped very generously…

I monstered the battle Sunday and saw the EGG and the Tortured Souls and got stabbed up a lot (perfectly safely) by the League. Good spearwork, folks.

I got the final piece of a historical puzzle out of Highguard on Sunday afternoon, completing a long quest…

And I survived loudly announcing that the weather looked brilliant and it was definately going to be a dry takedown in which nothing went wrong… (and I was right too).

Can’t think of anything that went especially wrong. Got to cast 10 shatters in a single skirmish, took part in Icy Crag tourneying, and engaged in diplomacy at midnight, and in preperation spent a lot of time learning about a conjunction

I had a very relaxed event, not my normal approach but very much what I needed. Set myself 4 targets, achieved 2 plus 1 more that found me in the field and enjoyed the slower speed so much more than I expected to.

Can we fast forward to e4 now please?

Positive

  • Anvil Hospital chaos hours due to the conflux of about four different sources of curses and over a dozen variants across the four sources
  • Discovering the absolute joy of causing someone I know OC IC paranoia with just a look. (Falconer plot just keeps giving me good info to just dump on people)
  • Finally managing to interact with star plot that wasn’t Falconer/Claw stuff.
  • Hard mode battle bimbling on Sunday and the last “shot” of the battle of a quartet of us (two Urizeni, one Dawnish, one Navarri) dispatching a tortured soul as a very mismatched squad
  • Whoever the quartet was on Sunday battle which, as two Druj and two humans, managed to cause absolute chaos with the two humans being chucked into the very thin section of the force
  • Nation swap. Shibboleth’s now in Urizen
  • Walking dates with OC…and now IC…partner. Had a proper “take your partner to work” vibe at times, which meant I got to see some more Artisan’s Guild stuff and he got to see a bit more Hospital stuff
  • Being an extra for the Friday low/no combat conjunction. Loved being able to be a spooky lil ghost in the dark

Negative

  • Humidity. Not in anyone’s control, but it made life so much sticky-er than it really needed to be
  • Taking a very well aimed arrow to the face by an incredibly apologetic Druj. Shot was aimed safely, I just ducked at the worst possible time.
  • Friday was hella wobbly for me. Mostly as I’d gone in with the thought I’d manage two very simple goals for the Friday before the conjunction I volunteered for…and then spent until call time for that wrangling Falconer plot stuff I’d not expected to.
  • Not enough Anvil Hospital time, which meant my info gathering was limited to overheards and bits from folks I know across the field

2nd eventer Dawnish checking in

Hots

  • the glory gala was fantastic in dawn. I’d quite like to see it established as an official summer festival but that isn’t up to me. Love any excuse to get dancing in glory square
  • finally watched a knight protector tourney and it was a riot, very entertaining!
  • finally left the dawnish camp. My first event I was very insecure and trying to make friends. This event I visited the famous songs and stories in Navarr and was spellbound
  • got to poke my toes into other areas of the game and start participating in some storylines and intrigue
  • marching into the marches on a “stag do” to retrieve the glory helm. Brilliant
  • watched my first Whispers at the Regio. It was so moving I cried without knowing the deceased

Nots

  • mostly personal things like an old injury still playing up, got some friction burns and bruising from wearing armour all the Friday and not enough padding underneath
  • a few emotional roleplay moments I wasn’t quite sure how to deal with or get into the moment, another personal aspect to work on

Had a great time all in all. Hoping everything is smooth for E4 to get into some combat action again

I made it. Honestly, given the heat and the way that interacts with my meds, I’m happy enough with that.

I am getting used to having slower paced events, rather than being completely full-on all the time, which is how I used to do things. Most importantly I got a play and sing music, listen to music, collaborate with others on music, and encourage people to step out of their comfort zones and become part of the musical fabric of Anvil.

Theodora is rapidly turning back into me because I don’t have the energy to consistently hold a character for a weekend, but that’s OK. I feel like I’m finding my place back in the game and that’s enough.

My favourite moment was watching several hundred Navarri, armed to the teeth and lined up to go through the Sentinel gate, carefully walking backwards and chanting “Beep. Beep. Beep.”

Oh! I forgot something wonderful!

On a pub crawl we ended up in the Coast, as one does, and in the camp of one of my former characters. We sang some songs, which was great, and then in the index of one of the books I spotted something called “Renata’s Song”. What was that? I enquired… and it turned out someone had written some lyrics to an existing Freeborn song about her. I got to sing a song about my old character, to some people who knew her. Thank you to the player of Bakar who wrote the lyrics, it was really touching to know that people missed her.

(I miss her, Renata was the best idiot peacock changeling).
