Hi!
I hope everyone is starting to feel keen for E1!
I’ve made a text-to-speech tool to help myself better focus on and understand the articles on the Empire Wiki, and with PD seemingly updating everything, it seems more useful than ever.
It’s pretty simple to use: When you find an article on the wiki you would like to listen to/read along with, add a “p” to the start of the URL, and you’ll go directly to the TTS article. If the article seems outdated, it may be because you are the first to visit it in a while - please let the system regenerate the article.
The little burger menu on the side of the page has some extra accessibility settings. Please let me know if there are any improvements you’d like to see.
I hope this can help someone struggling as much with reading on the wiki as I have!
While the wind I just listened to was pretty good (and completely understandable) I have a couple of requests.
Would it be possible to include the text boxes? The initial flavour text, mandates, etc were skipped.
Would it be possible to improve the pronunciation of certain Empire words by search and replacing them before translation? I’m thinking Urizen for example.
Interesting point with the boxes—this tool was originally only designed for the Winds, and you couldn’t skip around by simply clicking on the text, as you can now. I, therefore, initially skipped the flavour text at the start on purpose, as I didn’t find it essential. However, this is not necessary anymore, and, as you point out, some more essential boxes also get removed in the process. I’ll look at adding them back once I can find the time, but it may only come after E1.
Yes! I already got a bunch of pronunciation improvements doing precisely that. I’ll add Urizen to the list and if you have any more please tell me. Thank you for pointing that one out
