Eva foam armour

so i want to make a lot of my Armour out of Eva foam including an arm piece which is intended to be metallic however it will still be made of said foam, if i did this would the arm count as medium or light Armour, and the rest of the Armour on my body which is foam disguised as leather would that be medium or light as well?
thank you

As per the armour page, medium armour needs to be 3mm thick or more and made from something like aluminium, thick leather or polyurethane. Depending on the thickness I would think eva foam probably counts as light armour, unless you to to lengths to make is extra thick.

You should email PD directly for a ruling on this.

My guess is that eva foam armour would be light armour at best, however it’s decorated, and it’s quite likely it may not count at all except as mage armour. Note the line: ‘Costume made from foam or karrimat does not count as armour.’ under Light Armour in the Rules section on the wiki. There may be some wiggle room depending on what construction techniques you are using, but only PD can give you a definitive answer.

so potentially if i just doubled up(thickened) the Eva foam it may pass as medium Armour, thank you for the quickly reply

I’m really not sure, I certainly would check with PD. I’d echo the folks who have said it’s probably appropriate for Mage Armour but I don’t know if it’ll count as Medium, checking will PD before you make it should hopefully clear that up :crossed_fingers:

fron the armour page:

“Any cloth or leather that is less than 1.5mm thick counts as clothing, it does not count as armour at all. Costume made from foam or karrimat does not count as armour.”

foam armour isn’t part of Empire’s rules at all I’m afraid!

I’m not a ref, I’d check with PD. As others have advised, it’s more likely Light armour.

I would be very surprised if it counted as anything more than light armour (and I’m not convinced it would even count as that). It could be mage armour, as you can make mage armour out of anything you like.

I would assume it won’t count as armour at all. As quoted from the wiki page:

So why would anyone think there might be an exception to that stated rule?

Mage armour can be made out of any real world material, provided you try to make as clear as possible that your character is wearing magical protection and not mundane armour.

This is why it could likely pass as mage armour.

Yes, of course it could count as mage armour.

Pretty sure it wouldn’t be armour unless it was mage armour, no matter how thick you make it. Empire light, medium or heavy armour has to be made out of leather or metal.

Or poly.
