Yes, there are lots of things that are not Virtues, but are also not False Virtues.

I think for something to be a False Virtue, there have to be people making a false claim that it is a Virtue.

Also perhaps it has to be possible to be Dedicated to it.

At least one of those two, at any rate… but that would be a discussion for IC.

Actually finding evidence of a completely new category of aura’s wouldn’t necessarily make it a false virtue. The false virtues are false because they conflict with actual virtues, and in the case of vengeance/justice there was an amount of debate around such. A completely new set of aura’s while unlikely seems destined to spark conflicts within the Synod, as to whether or not it’s false.

That’s not quite right. The actual virtues conflict with each other. But the point is that you only need to excel in one of them to transcend the Labyrinth, so if Hatred were a virtue for instance, it doesn’t matter what else it contradicts because if you Hated hard enough you’d pass through the Labyrinth.

There is a strong emphasis on the idea of auras and spiritual forces. If we discovered a new type of spiritual aura in play, the Synod would need to decide whether to accept it as Virtuous or not, the default being not, because of the Doctrine of Seven.

But if you read further down that page, when it comes to the false virtues many of them it clearly uses an argument, of directly opposing one or more of the virtues. Indeed I think Anarchy is the only false virtue which doesn’t make a reference to conflict with the path of virtue. False virtue seem to be more than just spiritual presences which aren’t Virtues, there’s a clear element of here is why they cause spiritual harm.

It would be potentially possible to define a spiritual presence, which while following it wouldn’t speed up your passage through a labyrinth, it didn’t discourage a virtuous path. Similarly there may be one where the first few aura’s discovered seem benign and it’s only with further evidence they become problematic.

I’d argue the default seems to be it’s a spiritual presence, and that getting it defined as a false virtue would still take work, less that overthrowing the doctrine of the seven,
