Favorite Rituals?

Hi gang! Its me again!

So, as the title suggests, I would like to know your favourite rituals that you have had done/ want to have done.

I shall give mine!

The Farming rituals- You turn 10 mana into 420 (Blazing) Rings, which translates to 21 Crowns, or 2 1/2 Thrones! You can also arrange with that money, for it to happen next year, restarting the cycle!

Blood and Salt- Turn your Fleet into cannibals! But seriously, this is a fun one to see happen, and can be worth it later.

Mantle of the Golden Orator- This is the only good congregation buff, as it improves your votes and liao, and turns you into a pompous prick for 10 minutes!

Golden Voyage- You get a dope adventure over downtime, and it tends to make Rhianos interested in you, so Eternal game!

Coil of the Black Leech- Turns you into an amazing hero killer, lets you absolutely spam Weakness and get away with it!

What are yours?

My personal preference has been for Lure of Distant Shores: You ARE going to have a profitable and exciting adventure, whether you want to or not.

(I think you meant Golden Voyage, not Golden Sails).

Knights of Glory (another army of Fae, anyone?) was a favourite to watch being cast.

Winter’s Ghosts (Inflict economic recession! Hah!) was the basis of a past characters plan…

I’m a big fan of Call Winged Messenger, there’s just something fun about writing to NPCs even if the admin can take a bit of time to sort!

As a fleet owner, I’ve enjoyed getting both Lure of Distant Shores and Sular’s Promise, for both the RP and mechanical effects.

My coven performs wardings like There Is No Welcome Here around the Varushkan hearth every event and that can be a lot of fun if you get others involved! Last summit we did a virtuous animal play that required audience participation…it was verging on pantomime, but everyone enjoyed joining in!

Looking at getting into some Day game soon, so I’m curious to see what they bring for me!

Ruthless Vigilance Healthy Crop.

  1. It’s a good economic buff, which means peope want to get it cast a lot so you get to cast plenty of rituals. Profitable resource buff rituals don’t generate drama by themselves, but they let you play at being a ritualist more often, which is what you came to the game to do.

  2. It gives an amazing short term roleplaying effect which is awkward in a fun way. ā€œYou dislike being around weak peopleā€ is a pain in the ass for a physick. So it encourages roleplaying it up, or getting an anointing etc.

  3. It has a fluff effect of ā€œkills any flowers, kitchen herbs etc you planted in the marked garden plot with the medicianal herbs inā€. I’ve got remarkably a lot of game out of that, and it reinforces that idea that magic is not ā€˜cool and fun’ IC but dangerous and worthy of respect.

Also it’s soloable and scales well.

Signs and Portents, which I’ve gotten in the habit of OOC calling the Night Plot Button. Spend 2/4 mana, get a vision, instantly get something to do and something to care about as you go around figuring out ā€˜what does it mean?’, ā€˜what can we do to stop it/help it happen?’, ā€˜what do you mean that’s a vision of Agramant?!’, and meanwhile you could give useful information to someone. Lots of fun for only 2 mana if mastered.

I also had a lot of fun with Forge the Wooden Fastness, but I think that was less the ritual and more because doing any blood magic in the regio at midnight where a senator’s drawing their territory with their own blood while you do spooky magic shenanigans will be fun. Was super useful when we did it though, and hopefully I’ll get to do it again next week.

The MU/fleet buff rituals are fun but too many people hog the fun doing it for free :frowning:

I like Call down lightnings wrath when im going to be fighting because Strikedown is a great thing as a spell

This event definitely proved that the fleet buffs can run into coven-slot limiters when people are going all out.

My family’s Autumn coven of trading fleet-owners ended getting emergency education in Spring Magic on the sunday in order to get Blood and Salt done at a reasonable price.

We did a fun ritual casting, and the RP effect is interesting.

Tragically the RP effect is only for 15 minutes, not for a season like the fun one that got used a lot the previous event :slightly_smiling_face: . The Freeborn who cast Blood and Salt on me and another Highborn was a lot of fun, so much so that we pointed a bunch of other Highborn captains his way, while not spoiling the ā€œsurpriseā€ ending  .
