Ferelden and Avvar - a good inspiration?

I run a Dragon Age RPG, and I was checking out the lore. Some of the concept art for Ferelden and the Avvar really started to remind me of the Wintermark. They’ve got the same “it’s goddamned cold and we’re slightly Saxony” thing going. They’re not perfect, but maybe worthy of checking out

Ferelden (I want her sash!):

Avvar (Don’t ask me about that arrow position - is that normal?):

That woman I’d say yes and that fur sash is super keen, not too sure about the bloke. And the archer down below looks more Navarr to my eye though.

I think the guy with the helmet fits the worst and the other two are fine.
Helmet dude has a mish mash of armour types by the looks of it and it could be relatively easily modified to be more Wintermark, e.g. get rid of the helmet for starters

I was very much debating using that woman’s forehead tats and sash as inspiration for my character’s spring/winter costume changes.

TBH that bottom guy’s hair, bow and outfit reminded me of my own outfit, and nobody called me on not being Wintermark enough :stuck_out_tongue:

and nobody should call you out on it.
It’s your best. And that’s great.

It’s the blue tattoos that make me think Navarr, the rest is leather kit that wouldn’t be out of place in Navarr or Wintermark, or possibly the Marches either .

Wintermark don’t tattoo?

There are a few of us that warpaint, with cold colours like blues, Navarr seem to go for earthy colours comparatively, greens, reds, blacks, browns. In terms of tattoos, Navarr tattoos mean a thing, whereas Wintermark ones, would just be tattoos. Alternate view would be tattooing Runes onto oneself as runes are part of our magic.

I did have the rune for Victory on the side of my head. Tykonus.
