Hiya all, having stumbled through the process of building my own armour ready for the last event I wanted to move on to a new challenge and pick up some more skills. My next aim is to make a large boss grip shield (approximately 1m long and 50-60cm wide).
I’ve done some searching online and watched a few videos and the methods fro construction seem to vary quite a lot. Some involve plywood and metal that does not seem safe to me. The last thing I want to do is make something that wont pass weapon checks. Can anyone recommend a good tutorial that I can follow that is suitable for empire’s safety standards?
Failing this can anyone provide a list of suitable materials (with links if possible) and instructions/advice?
There are a few threads on the wiki already, I would suggest doing a thread search and looking at them. The first thing is, Shields at empire may have a rigid former, but it is under trial. I would suggest just sticking to one made from foam. The foam suggested is linked in this thread Shield Foam - #2 by Timmy_H
but I don’t make them so I’m not the best person to talk to.
HI, I’ve yet to do this…One of those plans that never really happened but I think you could make a pretty good shield out of one of these. I would check that one side is un-textured before purchasing.
