alternatively could you look at using that ambition to push him towards things he does want to do. such as:
- Rebuilding Cairleon is a long term goal, maybe he realises that he doesn’t have the skills to lead men yet and sets himself to training to be a good leader under someone he can trust.
- Maybe he determines he needs more Glory to attract people to his Banner when he does choose to raise it and picks somewhere he can stand to give himself the best chance of attaining this.
- Alternatively he could even look at things with a more mercantile eye, strange for a Dawnish noble but not impossible, and decide that just as you wouldn’t go into battle with substandard weapons and no armour the best first step to rebuilding is gaining money and allies.
In general look to see if there are ways to go about IC goals that promote the OC fun you want to have, this might mean changing them but it can also mean changing the methods you are using to go about them.
