Hi, is there any carpenters or anyone who understand how to constructed a wooden frame to hang a very large and wide cotton map, which needs to high standing with a small base for it to stand up. I have the materials but i can’t find the help i need to tell me which way would be best to build it and how to do it.
I would either Mitre it like a picture frame with 45 Degree cuts pin them together or depending on thickness of timber there are other options if you have limited wood work skills mitre glue and pin would be the best then you can use braces to strengthen it but the whole plan needs to be explained is it stand alone or just a home wall mount
Can you measure the map size timber length & thickness on both axis and also rather than treading onto wood think more rope to be looser kinda like the moon landing flag net curtain wire would work and be able to be recessed
So @Darius_Marcher i need the timber lengths widths and thicknesses of all pieces along with the open dimensions of the map flag, as with what I have had quite as an idea with the timbers you should be able to build a mount that folds away splits in half without much more than a few bolts 14mtrs of 4mm sisal rope (that includes 4x guy lines for windy days) 2x 1ft pieces of 1”x1” and a wooden pulley wheel but send me a message as I’ll be away for a few days but once I get full measurements I can draw out a step by step guide for you might even post it public for anyone to use
Dont worry about it mate im away until sunday and will draw up a plan for what you have and a plan of what is possible leave it up to you on which you choose
So the pulley can be replaced with a bracer and dual bolt the single hinge bolt if you don’t want it to be dropped like a flag, with the length of timber I suggest using a net curtain wire to hoops screwed in to allow it to be removed and put up easier when dismantling any further questions feel free to ask
Also forgot to elaborate the vertical pieces need 2 with the bracer in the middle
