Krampus

Hi, I am hoping to get momentum going for some sort of event based around the Krampus… I was thinking something along these lines: “Krampuslaufen A Krampuslauf is a run of celebrants dressed as the beast, often fueled by alcohol. It is customary to offer a Krampus schnapps, a strong distilled fruit brandy.[1] These runs may include perchten, similarly wild pagan spirits of Germanic folklore and sometimes female in representation, although the perchten are properly associated with the period between winter solstice and 6 January.” (stolen from Wikipedia)

Probably to take the form of a parade through other camps inviting folk to join the hunt of folks dressed up as beasts who will issue Booze to anyone who catches them. However, someone has questioned whther this might be off-brief and i wanted to check before putting in any real effort

Well the page on the wiki that mentions the Krampus, Wintermark Egregore doesn’t have that much detail and is marked as a work in progress. This is what it says:

In midwinter, Sulkavaris gives blessings to the virtuous but is sometimes accompanied by a malevolent figure known as the Krampus. The Krampus is a strange being that dispenses curses, but only upon those who ask for them. Individuals who feel the need to atone for something, perhaps an infidelity or a moment of cowardice in battle, will approach the Krampus and whisper their crime in its ear. The Krampus curses them, but the curse lasts only until the next winter and those who survive the curse are absolved of any wrongdoing. An image of the Krampus is often worn as a symbol by the Frayed, although it has no particular affection for them.

Lets see if this smokes out any more info.

That looks like a pretty good summary, as far as I’m aware, although the egregore might have more to say on the matter. I suspect most Wintermarkers would have a bit more respect for the Krampus than to arrange a hunt of them / dress up as them - if you want a comedy Krampus-themed hunt I would go with Comedy Wrongdoers attempting to find the Krampus in order to get their atonement? (The hider dressed as the Krampus could then give them the alcohol as their ‘curse’…)

I think we were looking more towards a darker feeling Santa Run celebrating the Krampus rather than anything that suggests disrespect or outright comedy. I don’t suppose you have contact details for Andy do you?
