Hi there!
After a (nearly) 30 year absence from LARPing, I’m thinking about dipping my toe back in the waters and have been scanning over the incredibly deep history and lore here, there’s so much inspiration.
One thing that I was considering (and what I’m looking for some advice on) is whether of Monk of the Copperhill Monastery would be a viable option, especially under current circumstances? From what I understand, Mournwold is back under the control of The Marches as of last year, although the monastery was razed during the war. Could rebuilding of the monastery be a possible personal plot point for a character?

Welcome back to the hobby, Paul
Yes, the lore/history is huge. Don’t try to read all of it…
The Monastaries of the Marches have received quite a bit of story (and military attention) over the years, and yeah, a rebuilding effort sounds like an excellent objective for a character. Last time we recaptured the Mournwold (that sounds just awful, doesn’t it), there were years of patient rebuilding programs, demanded and authorised.
Your character could be at Anvil, raising awareness, arguing for the funding, gathering aid from locals and powerful friends…
I’m not sure you could push it to the level where it becomes a plot point, where folk are choosing to invest in it from across the Marches and the Empire… but it’s happened before…
But whether it’s a personal motivation for your character or a rallying cause for the Marches to get behind and push, I think that’s an excellent personal plot to push. You go for it!

Thanks for that, Geoffrey! I was concerned that the sparse entry for Copperhill Monastery in the Wiki meant that it was off-limits, but I’m pleased to hear it isn’t.
At this stage it’s much more about having a solid foundation on which to build from, so now I can start working towards a character for next year. Thanks again for your help!

Probably also worth posting on the Marchers Facebook group. There are some religion focused groups in the Mourn already and they’ll be able to advise on how best to set up your background so you can hit the event running rather than stumbling over anything that’s well known on the field but hasn’t made it into the wiki.
Can’t post the link from this device but it should be fairly easy to find

Thanks for the advice. I’ve just joined the Facebook group and I’ll ask the question there too!
