Hi all,
I’m attending my first Empire event and I’m playing a Navarr Vine with Physick, Chirurgeon, and Apothecary. I’m also going to be IC camping with my group and we are all new to empire.
I’ve got the basics covered, but I was wondering if there’s anything experienced players would recommend bringing specifically for this kind of character?
Enthusiasm, willing to learn, and more bandages than you think you’ll need (recommend using scrap fabric, rather than spending-spending money on them)
…and knowing if you’re planning on going through the Gate for conjunctions, as that does actually colour other advice I can offer
Broadly, and usefully:
Anvil Hospital (a player led group, usually has a big garage tent near the Gate) does an OC 101 on physicians/healing/basic OC stuff that’ll help IC on the Friday at 1600.
Recommend attending if you’re planning on doing anything in that family of RP…mostly because it covers bits not exactly clear on the wiki and it gives you some well established faces/locations to find when time in rolls around at 1800

You might want to look into a few extra props, for herbs, potions, surgical bits?
In terms of “little potion bottles” there are a LOT of people selling those (for cash) at the event, as these are reasonably easy to make.
You can make good herb props from many places (I raided my spice rack for several) and they can add to the game.
If you and friends are all a new bunch, what could add to flavour is if you build and write a few backstories.
Not much, but just:
“That time I had to treat Albore for snakebite”
“That time Beryn was nearly gutted by a vallorn beastie and has the scar”
“That time I was gathering herbs and fell onto YOUR damn snare trap, Cerise!”
What you might also want to look out for are the more specific opportunities that crop up in the Wind of Fortune for Navarr and Physicks and the like.
Are there foriegnors selling rare potions?
Are strange herbs being offerred by mysterious Heralds?
Are there quests and the like specifically needing Vines?
There is also, if you feel like jumping in early, there is an opportunity for Navar-flavoured medical intervention adventure at 18:15 on Friday…
