Hello! Very excited as I have just booked my ticket for LARP Winter Solstice 2023 and as the title says I have a few questions.
Disclaimer: as I am brand new to this, these may be repeat questions, so apologies in advance! And I did try to find this info before posting, sorry if I missed it.
I am intending to drive to the site, will my car be registered to stay there already as long as I had put the number plate in when buying the ticket (which I did)?
I am intending to camp in a tent I own in the Out-of-Character section- does my ticket already allocate this? Will I be told where to go on the day?
Obviously the event runs from 21-23 of April, but what time does it open for people to arrive and set up on the 21st? And for that matter, when should everyone be off site by of the 23rd?
Are there any rules around bringing alcohol and food to the event?
How do I link my character to my ticket? Does it get done automatically?
On the ticket, it says ‘Confirm covid test taken’- does this mean I need to bring a covid test with me? Or are there other requirements? The site says about a covid pass for events in 2022, and I know this is 2023, but does that still need to be done? and just hasnt been updated.
Thank you in advance for any help rendered, it would be truly appreciated.
You’ve quite a few questions (and have left it, perhaps, a little late to ask some of them), but I’ll see what I can do.
Good job re your car. It can stay there as long as you can: I suggest you find a good spot to camp, park as close to it as possible, and leave your car there all weekend. Driving on and off site repeatedly can be stressful. You will likely be issued a piece of paper with your PID on it, to display in your car. This is so that, in the event of an emergency, PD can read that, work out which nation you’re in and where you might be, and track you down.
Yes, unless you’ve grabbed a space in an IN-Character camp, it’s assumed you’re camping OOC. You don’t get a spot allocated, it’s grab wherever you can go. There will be marshals directing people on the day, in the fields, so it’s likely you’ll be directed to the end of a long string of tents and cars, to find a good pitch site where you can.
It’s possible to camp early the night before, so Friday the site open pretty early, 10am. Time-out on Sunday is 15:00, and folk are requested to get offsite as quickly as possible. This means that most folk aim to get packed up and off-site by about 17:00, with the bigger tents/groups taking a little longer. Bear in mind it’s a bit of a traffic jam on Sunday afternoons.
Don’t make a mess. Don’t start your own BBQs. Don’t get too drunk. No drugs. That’s about it.
That’s pretty automatic. Your ticket has your PID on it, your character pack is printed out and waiting for you, designated by your PID.
As for covid, there are details on the page below, and also note the page on entry requirements. Functionally, take a LFT on the day of travel, and if it’s negative, head along. You don’t need to bring it with you. Beyond that, be sensible, and monitor your health and contacts.
Wow excellent, thank you so much, all of those answers were what i was hoping for! Now even more excited! Looking forward to meeting lots of new people
