Newbie Suaq joining Spring Equinox

Hi all,

I am doing my first ever LARP next week at the spring equinox, and wanted to say hi!
What would be your tips for getting acquainted with the game, the world and all the fellow Wintermark people?

I am taking the weekend as a trial adventure, so open to suggestions! I focused most of my time on coming up with a costume, I didn’t realise to reach out to the forums until the last moment.

Welcome along kutti, cutting your introduction rather fine here!

My first suggestion is that you have some people to look for, hang out with, and or do stuff with, arranged in advance. There’s a big difference between “I know no-one here” and “I’m looking for X Y and Z in hall A”. Even if you don’t actually join a group, having somewhere to sit down round the fire is very inclusive.

I would also suggest having some thing to look at/for in advance: maybe something connected with your nation, or interests, or plans. Have a look through the winds of war/fortune, or I may be able to help on that front.

Wintermark I believe has several moots (big meetings), bars and tea houses, and ceremonies over the course of the weekend. See which of them you can catch!

What might help you feel a bit more settled and acquainted is to wander round Wintermark and map out who’s camped where. You may end up as an authority on the camp

Head out to traders row, the Senate, the Imperial Regio, the Hospital, and the other nations! Even if it’s just for a wander through going “oooo, southerners :p”

On a more general basis, if you try to say YES to pretty much everything, you’ll get swept into all sorts of adventures

I’m in Dawn, which will be camped next to you (Dawn and Wintermark fill one of the fields, ridiculous size nations  ), and we’ll be starting the event with DRAMA (even by our usual standards… the last campaign went… memorably), so you can always drop in and ask why we’re chewing the scenery this… minute…

Oh, here’s the WM facebook page as well… Good place to introduce yourself.
