Polish army poncho/llavu tent configurations

Right now, the amount of kit I can take is limited due to my transportation options, so I’ve thus far been camping in one of those polish poncho tents you can get from milsurp sites and eBay. Obviously, it’s a tad small for one man and his kit, so I’ve got two whole tents, and last event tried the teepee thing with all four ponchos connected into one.

Didn’t work as well as I wanted. While it was usable, the amount of sag and bagginess made it not much larger than the two man setup.

I was wondering if anyone knew of specific configurations for these once you start looking into 4-man sizes, as I’ll be sticking to these tents for the considerable future. What I’d ideally be looking for is some way to turn it into long triangular tent, but being four circular ponchos, I can’t imagine how I’d do that whilst also keeping the rain out.

Ahoy!

Can’t help with turning them into a triangular tent, this might be able to help, possibly, but would probably require the buying of some tent poles.

infact id be very interested if they are as cheap as some people are saying, I’ve been looking for a “tipi” style army tents for a while just to have for the sake of having…(I’m male…its to be expected)

Depends on what you want.

Old pup tents are tiny, offering a bit more space, but command a premium price if you are unlucky.

Really you want a repainted 80lb Scouter if you can wrangle it, or a smaller bell, (if you can’t afford a Soldier’s tent etc).

Khoury,

have you read this thread?

Cheers
