Potion physreps - texture descriptions

Hi all,

Trying to understand what PD means by several potion descriptions.

Unshackled Gift: Indomitable Might: This greasy dark brown resin is difficult to break apart, and smells of cooked meat.

Similarly,

Unshackled Gift: Skar’s Strength: This thick green resin crumbles easily between finger and thumb. It is marked with golden speckles, and smells of spilled blood.

What do they mean by resin here? Liquid or solid? As in dried sap resin? More malleable or powdery than that? More like frankincense resin that comes in small chips? Bit confused about how a resin can be thick/greasy and crumbly at the same time.

How might this be phys-repped?

Infusions of Feathers: Ravenwing Infusion: This crumbly red substance smells strongly of exotic spices. When rubbed between finger and thumb, the spicy scent intensifies dramatically.

Similarly,

Balms of the Fountainhead: Talonvine Infusion: This coarse yellow substance gives off a musty scent. It raises itchy welts similar to nettle stings on contact with skin. It tastes sweet, but causes a painful swelling on the tongue - as if one had been stung by a wasp.

Similarly,

Unshackled Gift: Legionnaire’s Will: This deep purple powder crumbles easily between finger and thumb. It has a strong scent that is familiar but impossible to place.

How might this be phys-repped? I’m thinking bath bomb -esque?

Thanks in advance for any help

The usual trick with potion physreps is get the colour down (maybe with added glitter) and don’t muck around with the texture, etc

Mostly as most folks mime drinking them and pull facial expression based on the text on the lammie…that and you don’t want to run risk of accidental allergen response

(For the three above, if you’re going with non-edible and/or burnable reps-

Cinnamon and nutmeg in combo will smell strong and are reddish. (And burn like they smell dry)

Coarse ground mustard, oat flour, and Vaseline…but given mustard is one of the 14 major allergens, this would be one I’d be SUPER blooming cautious with

Purple sherbet powder with a neutral oil to stick it together…but this might get confused with a common Liao phyrep)

Thanks for that. I should clarify, I have been to Empire and understand all that. Obviously going with colour is fine, but I am hoping to make a VERY accurate physrep of each of the apothecary items, not for use in battles/skirmishes. Plus I’m generally curious as to what people interpret these as.

You may also have some success with phys-rep materiel looking at scented candles.

If you can finda mixed bag of semi-used scented candles (Yankee ones for instance), those can be melted down and adulterated with things. Chilli oil. Glitter. Perfume.

Failing that, I used to use moisteriser (Boots cucumber scented…) as a phys-rep for Cerelean Mazzaraine (as it was safe to rub on the skin). Something like that, as I found, dries and thickens into a paste over time, and would be an innocuous base for adding physical or scented ingrediants.

Check out Skilltree on YouTube kit on there goes through loads of cool Larp based skills but also does a potion one with inedible or edible options
